Frequently Asked Questions
-
Resilient Voices is a leadership development company focused on two foundational human skills: the ability to advocate clearly and the ability to remain steady while doing so. We work with leaders and organizations across corporate, public sector, nonprofit, and healthcare-adjacent environments, bringing research-backed tools to the real, daily challenges of leading people under pressure.
-
We offer programs, facilitation, coaching, and speaking that help leaders build what we call nervous system literacy, an understanding of how your physiology affects your communication, your decision-making, and your capacity to lead. This isn't theory. It's the practical work of closing the gap between what you know you should do as a leader and what you're able to do when the pressure is on.
-
Advocacy Advantage™ is our flagship program. It addresses something most leadership training misses: the pairing of what to say (naming your needs, making clear asks, setting direction) with how to say it (staying regulated, steady, and present when the stakes are high). Most leaders have the skills. What gets in the way is the nervous system going offline at exactly the wrong moment. This program addresses both.

Leaders at every level, from managers navigating complex team dynamics to senior executives carrying the weight of organizational decisions. Whether you're leading a high-performing corporate team, a division under transformation, or a team stretched thin and burning out, this work meets you where you are. If you're outwardly succeeding but privately running on empty, this is especially for you.
-
We work across sectors - corporations, mid-size businesses, nonprofits, public sector organizations, and healthcare-adjacent environments. What they share is a recognition that leadership development needs to go deeper than skills and strategy. The leaders showing up to your meetings are human beings with nervous systems, histories, and limits. How you develop them and how you support them matters enormously to performance, culture, and retention.
-
No. This is leadership and organizational development. We work with nervous system literacy as an educational framework to help people understand how their biology affects how they lead, communicate, and make decisions under pressure. This work is evidence-informed and practical. It is not a substitute for mental health care, and we are not clinicians.
-
Resilient Voices is designed to complement, not compete with, existing programs, including Dare to Lead™, Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, change management, and other organizational culture work. Think of it as foundational infrastructure. When people understand their own nervous system responses, every other leadership development investment gets a better return.
-
Most programs focus on what leaders should do differently. We work at the level of why they can't always do it through the lens of nervous system patterns and physiological responses that override even the best intentions. It's the missing competency that explains why training doesn't always stick, why culture initiatives often stall, and why high-performing leaders burn out. Carolyn brings over 17 years of corporate leadership experience, emerging doctoral-level research, and direct, practical facilitation.
-
Both. Carolyn works with individual leaders through coaching for those navigating significant career transitions, leadership challenges, or the compounding demands of high-stakes professional and personal life. Organizational engagements range from single workshops to multi-session programs to longer-term partnerships.
